Prepare For Election Officer (BS-17) Test

The Election Commission of Pakistan is an autonomous body of Pakistan responsible for making elections in the state of Pakistan. This organization oversees conducting and organizing elections at all the state levels, including provincial legislatures, state parliament, local government, and President's office. Since this body holds a great value, Pakistan's election commission announced vacancies for the election officer last year.

The vacancies were announced last year, and the last date of registration was 30th May 2020. Yet the test was not conducted. I am sorry what?

The applicants who previously applied for the test received a message from the Election Commission of Pakistan that the test will be held this year. Initially, a course outline was given by the ECP for the test.

Eligibility Criteria for Election Officer (BS-17)

The applicants could apply through ECP’s Online Recruitment System on their official website for the election officer jobs 2020. However, the requirements were as follow:

  1. Qualification

Applicants holding a master’s degree with (2nd Division), B.A/B.sc/B.com with 2nd Division, Law Graduate with 2nd Division could apply.

  1. Experience

An applicant of B. A/B.Sc./B. Com (2nd Division) with two (02) years of experience in any government organization could apply for the election officer (BS-17).

  1. Age Limit

An applicant of 30 years could apply.

  1. Total vacancies

The total vacancies from all over Pakistan were 59. The further breakdown of vacancies, according to Quota, was as follow:

  • Merit (04 Posts)
  • Punjab (29 Posts total with 03 for Women and 01 for minority)
  • Khyber Pakhtun Khuwa (07 Posts)
  • Balochistan (04 Posts)
  • Sindh (Urban) (04 Posts)
  • Sindh (Rural) (07 Posts)
  • FATA (02 Posts)
  • Gilgit Baltistan (01 Post)

Course Outline for the Election Officer (BS-17)

The test will be MCQs based consisting of 100 Marks. The test duration will be one and a half hour. However, the ECP updated the course outline on their official website. The election officer syllabus is as follow.

  1. English (30%)
  2. The Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973 (Part I, II & VIII) & Election Act, 2017 (30%)
  3. Islamiyat (10%)
  4. Pakistan Affairs (10%)
  5. Current Affairs (10%)
  6. Everyday Science (10%)

Test Date

So, when exactly is the test?

On 19th January 2021, it was announced that the test for recruitment to the post of Election Officer (BS-17) is scheduled to be conducted on 7th March 2021.

The applicants can find and download the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (25th Amendment incorporated) [ As amended up to 31st May 2018] in both English and Urdu languages.
